Bluetank Services: Content Management Systems
The Bluetank Content Management System (CMS) allows companies to take control of the updating of certain elements of the website without the need of any applications such as Dreamweaver, FrontPage (applications that help build websites manually) or any technical knowledge.
The CMS is hosted separately from the website and allows multiple users to update, control and monitor which ever modules have been chosen to be added to the system. It is accessed via a normal web browser from any PC that has an Internet connection.
There is a yearly hosting and management charge if the CMS is chosen and then a one off non-exclusive license and integration fee for each module chosen.
Why should I use CMS?
It is entirely up to you whether to use this service offered by Bluetank. The benefit of choosing the various modules is that it gives the power back to you over updating the areas of the site that the modules can control.
If CMS is not chosen the site is know as what is commonly referred to as a static site. This means that there is no dynamic content on the site and no database running the information that appears on it. Therefore in order to update the site you would need to have the appropriate software and be literate in it or instruct Bluetank to carry this out manually which is charged out at an hourly rate.
The deciding factor really is how often you will want to update your site. If you will be updating it regularly then the CMS option will probably work out as a cheaper option. If you only plan to do intermittent updates then commissioning Bluetank on an hourly update basis or doing it yourself will be the better choice.
Typical 'CMS' modules:
